The objective of WP10 is to ensure that the results of the project
(both methodology and valuation outputs) are effectively and efficiently exploited and
that real cost calculations become an easily performed exercise, to support Intermodal
Transport Cost reduction policy and actions. This aim will be achieved through the
following tasks
Task 10.1
Liaison with the Users Group
RECORDIT will establish a Users Group comprising representatives of
Intermodal Operators and of Shippers. The contribution of the Users Group to the project
will be, to validate the project approach and findings and assist the Consortium in the
access to the data relevant to the case studies and to serve as a privileged channel of
communication with the communities of intermodal transport operators and users.
Two main workshops will be organised:
- the first (WS 1) immediately after completion of case study analysis, to allow the
presentation of real cost valuation on the RECORDIT corridors, and of current pricing
levels. It is expected that these will trigger an animated debate on both the
interpretation of results and their meaningfulness in view of policy setting
- the second (WS 2) towards the end of the project, mainly focused on the presentation of
findings and recommendations, with particular regard to: i) actions to reduce internal
costs and ii) the adjustment of taxation regimes and pricing systems to ensure
internalisation of externalities, consistently with EU pricing policy recommendations.
Participants to both workshops (an attendance of ca. 50 is targeted)
will be representatives of all stakeholder groups listed above, including the members of
the RECORDIT Users Group.
Task 10.3
Dissemination of project material
The project will produce a large number of working and discussion
papers on specific topics, covering: i) methodological issues, ii) findings on the
valuation of real costs, on taxation and pricing systems, and iii) policy issues. These
deliverables will be widely circulated, by means of dedicated mailings, distribution
during the Workshops and other sectoral events, advertisement through the project Website.
In addition to the above, this Task will be responsible for the
production of a Project Leaflet, to be prepared in the early project phases and to serve
as the standard introductory project presentation in all relevant circumstances.
The project will establish its own website, which will be operational
since the early stages of the project lifecycle. Posting all (non-restricted) project
material on the website will guarantee a smooth and low cost access to the project
findings by the entire community of potential users. A major concern of the proposers is
that the RECORDIT website remains alive after the end of the project.
